Ted, a very thoughtful podcast indeed. I live in Turkey now that I have retired. (We corresponded when I lived in Plymouth UK, but I am a Canadian from near Toronto)
You should read Louis de Bernieres "Birds Without Wings" (the author wrote "Captain Correlli's Mandolin"). It gives a flavour of the times when modern Turkey was born, but also the timelessness of daily life then. I enjoy those attractions you visited of course, but it's a pleasure to sit in a rural agricultural village drinking tea with the Turkish 'good old boys'. I have started a blog http://deripocock.wordpress.com/ but it's not interesting yet. But i'll try to follow your lead.

Ted,
As usual, a great podcast or should I say slideshow. It was a great way to start my morning. I really enjoyed the enhanced version (watched on a PC with QTplayer). It makes me want to do something similar with my own photos of a trip I did through Europe many years ago as a young man. I wonder how it would look to older eyes. Too bad I don't have any audio of the experience.
Speaking of audio, the recordings from Turkey were fantastic. Hearing the call to prayer, I'm assuming recorded using your in ear binaurals, through headphones really placed me there. I have purchased the same ones and can't wait to use them in a similar way.
Great to hear you Ted! I am always excited to see that bold lettered "Islandpodcasting" with a "(1)" beside it in my Google Reader.

Hi Doug,

Thanks for the comment.

I use mics I got several years ago from a company called The Sound Professionals. Here is a link to the mics.

http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-TFB-2

I also got a pair of the wind screens for $5 because they make for a better fit when you wear the mics.
